Lisa Mee

Lisa Mee, born in 1974 in New York City, is an Irish-Korean-American artist celebrated for her vibrant mixed-media paintings that fuse recycled materials with expressive color. Educated at Fordham University, she honed her craft under the mentorship of her husband, Wayne Ensrud, the sole living protégé of Expressionist master Oskar Kokoschka. Mee's work transforms natural inspirations—such as botanicals, landscapes, and water reflections—into luminous, mosaic-like compositions that evoke the effect of stained glass. Her innovative use of fabrics, papers, and metallic paints not only creates a sculptural texture but also reflects her commitment to environmental sustainability. With over 20 solo and group exhibitions across the U.S. and Europe—including a solo show at the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco—her art is held in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide.
