Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol, born in 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was a visionary American artist and a key figure in the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. His iconic works, including Campbell’s Soup Cans and Marilyn Diptych, used silkscreen techniques to blur the lines between fine art and mass-produced imagery. Warhol's New York studio, The Factory, became a vibrant cultural hub for artists, musicians, and celebrities, reflecting his fascination with fame and consumerism. Expanding beyond visual art, he explored experimental filmmaking, managed the band The Velvet Underground, and founded Interview magazine, further shaping contemporary culture. Known for turning everyday objects and celebrity images into high art, Warhol remains one of the most famous and influential artists in history, with his works continuing to command record-breaking prices and inspire new generations of artists worldwide. He passed away on February 22, 1987, in New York City, leaving a legacy that forever changed the definition of modern art.
