Christine Oberthur
Christine Oberthür, born in 1939, is a renowned French painter, engraver, and lithographer celebrated for her vibrant figurative works featuring floral and maritime themes. She trained at the Engraving Academy of Goetz and the lithography workshops of Saint Maur and Atelier Nicolas Poussin, mastering the interplay of color, light, and emotion. Her expressive compositions have earned her prestigious honors, including bronze medals from the Salon des Artistes Français, Salon d’Automne, and Salon Violet, and gold medals from the Salon de la Marine, National Salon of Fine Arts, and Salon de l’Horticulture. A member of the Taylor Foundation since 1985, Oberthür draws inspiration from both urban Paris and the coastal beauty of her native Brittany, a historic region in northwestern France known for its rich maritime culture and rugged Atlantic coastline.
